I  was able boot the board with sd card. but when i try to boot now the following will happen,

I can boot up another board with same SD card.

what is the problem?

  • Hi,

    Which SDK is this?

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

    TMDSLCDK138 is the SDK

    Regards,
    Allwyn
  • Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.

There are which linux SDK version, is it the latest TI SDK:
    www.ti.com/.../processor-sdk-omapl138

    Or some previous one.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Well...if it used to work then all of sudden it did not...I would tend to think it was a hardware problem. Check to see if your microSD slot is not damaged. Lifted or bent pins?

You are seeing card problems in the u-boot stage. Do the working and non-working boards have the same u-boot? Is u-boot on the SD card? Then the ROM bootloader had no problem reading off the SD card. What are booting from?
  • Hi,
    sorry for the mistake.

    I am using " ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.02.00.09-Linux-x86-Install.bin"dowloaded from

    " software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html "

  • Hi,

What are the sysboot settings on your board (SW1)?

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • If the problem board boots with the sd card that came with it. I would guess your problem sd card is borderline. Try a another sd card. Maybe a newer one in the 4GB to 32GB range. The ROM bootloader might not support anything higher.
  • Hi yordan,

    Dip switch configuration is,

SW1 : OFF OFF OFF ON OFF OFF OFF OFF

    Regards
    Allwyn
  • Strange, everything appears to be fine. Can you test with different sd card, as Norman suggested?

You use the create-sdcard.sh scirpt to create the bootable sd card, right? Also are you running the prebuilt images or are you building the kernel yourself? If you build your own kernel image, can you share the procedure you use?

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Hi Yordan,

I tried with another SD card. But it is not working.
I tried to both prebuilt image and image built myself. Both are working in another board.

    Regards
    Allwyn
  • Allwyn,

I this case I think you are facing some hardware problem with this board.
Just to confirm you should be doing the following:
    1. install the SDK.
    2. cd ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/
    3. sudo ./bin/create-sdcard.sh and follow the intaractive script.
Once the create-sdcard.sh script completes successfully you should copy the u-boot.ais file:
    4. cd ~/ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/board-support/prebuilt-images
    5. sudo dd if=u-boot-omapl138-lcdk.ais of=/dev/sd<N> seek=117 bs=512 conv=fsync

Do you follow this exact sequence?

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Can you try with an earlier TI Processor SDK version and the same sdcard & board?
If the above works, then you can connect to the omap-l138 board with a Jtag and see where exactly u-boot fails. Look at this wiki to see how to debug u-boot with jtag:
    training.ti.com/sitara-arm-processors-boot-camp-u-boot-and-linux-kernel-debug-using-ccsv5

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

Where can I get previous TI Processor SDK version?

    Regards
    Allwyn
  • Hi,

The link has been removed from the download page... I've consulted the SDK team, but the responsible person is OoO.
I will update as soon as I have some info.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

    Thanks for your reply.

  • The link should be back soon. We've notified the development team.

  • Hi Yordan,

I tried to flash zImage to NAND when the board was working. I only exexuted
" U-Boot> tftp 0xc0700000 uImage " this command. after that I poweroff the board.
will it affect the board. I think it will not.

    Regards,
    Allwyn
  • Hi Yordan,

    Any updates?

    Regards
    Allwyn
  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I was OoO.

The powering off the board after you executed " U-Boot> tftp 0xc0700000 uImage " should not do anything to the board.

However, now you're trying to boot the whole linux OS from the SD Card, right? I mean you have u-boot, linux kernel & filesystem on the SD Card, right? You are NOT trying to load the u-boot from sd-card and then the kernel from NAND or something like that.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

I have u-boot, linux kernel & filesystem on the SD Card.
I am trying to load u-boot ,kernal and filesystem from SD card.
DIP switch : OFF OFF OFF ON OFF OFF OFF OFF

I just tried to transfer zImage to NAND flash.Currently I am trying to load u-boot ,kernal and filesystem from SD card.but it didn't work.

    Regards
    Allwyn

  • Hi Allwyn,

I am not sure what is going on..
I advise you to recheck the u-boot environment parameters, and the content of your sdcard, especially rootfs/boot/. Make sure you aligned the bootfile to be zImage. Also see which MMC device the u-boot is trying to boot from (mmc dev parameter).

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

Thanks for your response .Board is working now. I changed the bootfile to zImage

    Allwyn
