TMDSEVM437X: Using SPI port for POTS interface

My customer needs to add a POTS telephone interface to the AM437x EVM via a custom interface board.

Does J30 have all of the necessary interfaces for MCASP interface to a second AIC3106 codec or similar? It is understood that it is intended for SPI use, but we are trying to determine if it could also serve as an analog codec interface for POTS with proper SW configuration.

Thanks for forwarding me a link to the schematic that exists on the product page and which the customer has already looked at. The customer is asking a question that an apps engineer can probably readily answer. If you read the question, the customer obviously understands the intended use of the port in question, but is looking to see if it can be applied for a different application.

If the customer can find a way to accomplish their implementation using TI's EVM as a baseline, it greatly facilitates the ability to help them troubleshoot any issues that may arise during development. It's fine if the answer is no, but we need someone to at least consider the question.

I did read your question and my impression was that your customer does not have the schematic, otherwise they could easily answer this themselves. You have McASP0 and I2C routed out on J30, plus a lot of GPIOs. You may need external level translators, but otherwise yes, you can connect a second AIC3106 to J30.
