OMAP-L138: Can debug probe XDS200 be used with both the ARM9 and the DSP of the chip?

Part Number: OMAP-L138
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138, TMDSEMU200-U

We want to use OMAP-L138 in a future product. That's why we want to evaluate this chip with the OMAP-L138 LCDK.

After doing some research on debug probes I am bit confused. The XDS200 product page says: "Devices supported: ... most DSPs (except C54x, C62x, C67x)". The XDS200 wiki page says: "The XDS200 supports our Stellaris, C2000, Hercules, Sitara, C66xx, C64x+, C674x, C". Since the DSP inside the OMAP-L138 is a C6748, I am not sure, if this probe can be used.

Can someone please confirm, that XDS200 debug probe can be used to debug BOTH the ARM9 and the DSP of the OMAP-L138 with Code Composer Studio 7?

  • Hi,

I am aware of this discrepancy in the product folders. You should be able to use this debug probe with both arm9 and dsp.
However, let me confirm with the design team.

  • Hi,

Due to the time difference between the release of the various generations of C67x devices, unfortunately the naming convention has become a bit confusing. The C674x device is fully supported by the TMDSEMU200-U (XDS200) Debug Probe, as well as the ARM9 core of the OMAPL138 device.

    Hope this helps,
