AM5718: Capturing image in standby mode

Part Number: AM5718

Hello experts,

I need your comments regarding possibility to realize 2-channel video registration on AM57xx based system with the following requirements.

Two modes must be supported:
- Active mode. Simultaneous encoding video from 2 channels (1080p @ 30fps);
- Standby mode:

  • Total power consumption is not more than 100mW;
  • Capture of 1 good quality image in a time which is not more than 1000ms;

Now it seems that realization of standby mode will be the most difficult thing due to the energy budget (100mW).

Could you please roughly estimate if it is possible to choose a configuration of AM57xx where a processor consumes (totally) 100mW in any low power mode and at the same time has an ability to capture 1 good image (from image sensor) in a time which is not more than 1000ms. Probably in that case we need to use TI-RTOS on DSP side.

For better understanding of the scenario where standby is used read the following. The camera in standby mode is powered from battery and capture the image only in case if external interrupt is received (external interrupt is generated by accelerometer when someone occurs vibration). The main idea here to get image of person who makes vibration but with lowest as possible energy budget. Captured image then transmits through one of the interface.

Now the customer don’t have specific image sensor, so you can consider whatever you want to simplify calculation and answer on the main question.

Probably AM57xx is not the best choice for this task. If yes please recommend another solution but it must also satisfy requirements:
- Active mode. Simultaneous encoding video from 2 channels (1080p @ 30fps);
- Standby mode:

  • Total power consumption is not more than 100mW;
  • Capture of 1 good quality image in a time which is not more than 1000ms;
