c5000 convolution

Hi,

I don't have too many details right now as my customer is still defining their requirements but below are a rough guess at the main ones.

First they want a DSP that's around $7 and it requires on the go USB. The application is video analysis but not in real time.

They will probably capture a 1024 by 768 grey scale image. They may be able to window this to reduce the number of pixels. They will be performing a 5x5 convolution, however they will also group the pixels first. It ends up effectively being approximately a 400x200 image. They are hoping to process 15 frames per second. They obviously want as much internal memory as possible, 256Kbytes would be good.

The cost is really forcing me to look at the c5000 but not sure the processing power. I've looked the 5509 but it's too expensive, maybe the 5504 would be a better choice- any benchmark data that would help me figure this out? Does the C5000 support on the go USB?

Cheers

  • Hi Calum;

    The C5504/C5505 does not support OTG USB. But we do have the high-speed USB2.0 interface, it is slave only. Will the slave only mode work for you? Except the USB-OTG, the C5505 will be a good fit on cost, internal memory size, and performance.

    Thanks and regards

  • Thanks Wen,

    Unfortunatley they need tp be a slave to a PC but also be able to connect and print to a printer. As I find out more details somre of tehse requirements may change , if so I'll post again.

    Cheers
