RTOS/TDA3XEVM: GLBCE Enabling for LOWLIGHT performance under bright headlight condition.

Hi,

We are working on TDA3x with visionSDK 3.1. Our usecase is Rear view panorama. When at low light we are not able to control the high-light falling from the headlights of another vehicle approaching towards our cameras.

Can we use GLBCE for to solve this issue? If possible please share how can we enable GLBCE from SDK?

Our sensor is OV10640, MIPI CSI2.

GLBCE will help to a small extent. What you really need is 120dB HDR mode from the sensor. Please ensure that you are enabling HDR in your image pipe. Also, select optics to minimize flare.

Hi Mayank,

Regarding optics we are using lens with anti-flare coating.

How can we enable HDR in image pipe? In ISS Settings there are options to enable the WDR (one pass WDR, two pass WDR). Is that how we enable the HDR?

In Rear view panorama usecase we tried selecting one pass WDR mode from the ISS Settings and still we observed some light spreading (not much intense compared to the linear mode).

Some light spreading will always be there. One more thing you may try is to switch to R1F version of OPV10640. R1E version has a known issue related to lens flare which is fixed in R1F.

You will also need specialized image tuning to minimize flares, but please note that it will not go away 100%.

Hi Mayank,

We are using 1F Revision right now.

Can you detail what kind of specialized tuning is needed for minimizing th flare because we are also tuning the ISP using DCC tool.

Flare comes in RAW image before the image reaches the ISP. Therefore, ISP tuning through DCC tool will not help. You need to do the following

1. Pick a lens which meets your usecase goals and still minimizes the flare

2. Work with sensor provider to provide sensor settings tuned for lowlight and flare
