Hi,
As Codec Engine Roadmap says, Codec Engine 2.24 will support WinCE OS. I am very interested, but when can I download it from ti?
By the way, the DSP side codecs used with Linux OS need recompiling or modifying used with WinCE OS???
Thanks

Codec Engine 2.24 has been released internally and we're working with the TI web services team to make it available for download.
Which device are you interested in? Codec Engine's initial support for WinCE (in 2.24) will officially only include the OMAP3 device, and has been validated on the BSquare BSP for OMAP3. The libraries themselves will likely work on other BSPs (and likely on other devices(!)), but will only have been validated on OMAP3/BSquare WinCE.

The DSP-side codecs will not require any modification or re-release. The DSP-side Servers (the executables which link in codecs, DSP/BIOS, Link, Codec Engine, etc) _will_ require a relink - [at least] required b/c Link 1.61.03 must be linked into Linux-based systems and Link 1.61.04 must be linked into WinCE-based systems.

Thanks a lot.
The internally release in TI is EA version? I am interested in DaVinci Platform DM6446/DM6467. Will CE 2.24 support the devices?
When will TI plan to public the release version of CE 2.24? The CE 2.24 Roadmap says it will be release in this month. Will it be ok in the future two weeks?
The Codec Engine 2.24 release is GA qualified; we just need to get it onto a web server so you can download it. The web server we've been using has been struggling to say the least, so I'm not sure when it will be posted - before the end of June is likely, though.
As I mentioned in my previous post, TI will only officially support OMAP3 on the BSquare BSP in this Codec Engine 2.24 release, however it is BSD licensed and full sources are available... read into that as you wish.
Which BSP are you planning to use on DM6446 and/or DM6467? My biggest hurdle at the moment is the lack of a production quality BSP to validate against (and time to do it, of course!). [;)]
Chris
[:)] Thanks a lot for your reply , Chris. In fact, Our platform is TI's dual core Soc for Automotive which is almost the same as DM6446, except VICP core and some peripherals ports such as CAN and so on. We have the EVM and WinCE MPC Data BSP. We would be very glad to help you if we can . My email is phoenixtju@live.cn, you can give me email, or some instant message tools.
Another question, CE2.24 need to work with other components together, such as framework, dsplink 1.61.04, wince utils 1.00 and so on, will they be provide in the CE 2.24? If not, when the CE 2.24 download link is OK, the component will be OK?
FYI, normally codec engine releases contain related components such as dsplink and others under cetools directory within codec engine tree. For DVSDK releases, these directories are often taken out of the codec engine tree and placed alongside codec engine; however, if you were to download the individual codec engine software component (e.g. when upgrading), you would get the cetools directory containing all the other relevant software components inside codec engine tree.
Hi, all
Is it possible to get the CE 2.24 before it 's download link is provide in TI's web server??
It is very important and helpful to us.
Thanks,
CE 2.24 should be posted externally by early/mid next week. Unfortunately, I won't be able to post anything sooner.

Juan's exactly right. Because it came up, I wanted to flag a change coming in CE 2.24 - Link has been removed from cetools. For reference, a bit of background on cetools is here:
As readers of this thread know, CE 2.24 will support both WinCE and Linux environments (WinCE will be supported on OMAP3 only). As many of you also know, in Linux, most of DSP Link runs in kernel mode - and is GPL licensed. The GPL license taints code it links to. WinCE users cannot be tainted by this GPL code base, and as a result, Link will be offered in 2 different downloads - one licensed as BSD (Link 1.61.04 - targeted at non-Linux users) and one where the Linux kernel mode content is licensed as GPL (Link 1.61.03). Customers will have to pick the appropriate Link release; beginning with CE 2.24, cetools will now pick neither.
Chris
Hi, Chris,
In your lastest post, you said WinCE will be supported on OMAP3 only. Does it mean that CE 2.24 on WinCE is only validated on OMAP3? In fact, it may also support other devices such as DM6446/DM6467, but not validated on these platform? Or, I misunderstand [:)]
Thanks
Stephen
Stephen,
I am also interested in getting the Codec Engine release for WinCE. I believe the support for other platforms is present and not being validated.
We have been internally working in getting the LINK 1.61 up and running on the DM6446 DVEVM. With changes in the LINK configuration and build confg files, we are seeing the MESSAGE application running on WinCE. Are you looking at Dm6446 itself or its variant?
Thanks
Alright, you pushed hard enough... [;)]
Internally,
we do have a DM6446-based, non-production quality WinCE BSP that we've
also validated CE 2.24 on. Unfortunately, I don't think DSP Link
1.61.04 will officially claim support for DM644x, so I've been trying
[now unsuccessfully!] to hold my tongue about the DM644x support in CE
2.24 - but it _might_ just work for you.
Chris
Chris,
Thanks for the update. We will for the download to appear in the next week. Since you have mentioned that the support is not officially available, we will go ahead and build/test it for DM6446 EVM. If we face any issues, I will post the issue/resolutions later.
Thanks
FYI, looks like CE 2.24 is now up:

Thanks Chris,
We were able to download and build the CMEM module along with the PB Workspace for EVM_3530. Is the LINK 1.61.04 same as the 1.61.03 re-built for WinCE? Are there any other differences between the two versions?
Thanks again
