Linux/AM3358: Changing LCD resolution

Hi,

I developed a RGB to LVDS board to connect a LVDS display. Hardware works, now I need to change the resolution from 480x272 (LCD shipped with TMDSSK3358) to 1024x600.

How can this be done?

I'm using latest version (v4.02) of PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-AM335X.

Hi Tsvetolin,

let me quickly summarize what to do to support another display with TMDSSK3358. This procedure should work for other platforms directly driving an LCD, as well:

On the Linux host machine install latest SDK package from the web page
in the SDK goto directory <SDK dir>/board-support/linux.../arch/arm/boot/dts and edit the dts-file you hardware platofrm belongs to (here: am335x-evmsk.dts for the TMDSSK3358)
1. find line panel {
2. in this structure you find line display-timings {
3. change timings according to the spec of the LCD you are using
4. save and close file
go to root directory of the SDK (same as the package name)
execute make_linux-dtbs_clean
execute make_linux-dtbs
the new am335x-evmsk.dtb is generated in <SDK dir>/board-support/linux.../arch/arm/boot/dts
replace the dtb file (with the just generated) on your sdcard (rootfs/boot)
the hardware should now come up with the new settings applied.
