Linux/TDA2EVM5777: WL1837 comparability with the TDA2EVM5777

Part Number: TDA2EVM5777
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1837

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I have am using the TDA2EVM5777 Vayu boardREV G and I want to make sure that the WL1837COM8evm will work with the Processor SDK Linux Automotive Kernel. When looking at the EVM, I see that the SATA port is physically obstructing my ability to plug the WL1837COM8 evm in the TDA2EVM5777 EVM COM module properly. Please see photo for a better representation of the issue.

Initial Question:

Will the Processor SDK Linux Automotive Kernel work with the WL1837 module?

If the linux kernel supports the WL1837, here are a few options that I was looking into with their respective questions:
  • Take out the SATA port to make room for the WL1837
    • Would taking out the SATA port damage the board at all?
    • After running all of my tests using the WL1837, can I put the SATA port back on the TDA2EVM5777 and start using the SATA port?
  • Use a COM8 extender to extend the port so that I don't have to worry about the interference with the SATA port.
    • I can't find any COM8 extender. Is there any COM8 extender available for purchase?
  • Break off the long part of the WL1837 EVM to force the module to fit into the COM8 port.
    • Would this break theWL1837's functionality other than losing one of the antennas?

Thank you,
