Video Latency

My customer is asking what the best case (minimum) latency is from a digital parallel input to the output of the LCD controller.  Assuming no processing at this time.  Best case scenario.  Is this documented somewhere?  Thanks!!

    Andy,

    This is a difficult question to answer since it depends on so many factors.

    Best case is close to zero. In order to achieve this though the system would need to use a single frame buffer and have the input source synchronized with the display output.

    Worst case could be many frames of delay.

    What is the application? Is there a specific input source in mind? What additional processing is required on the image data? Is the plan to use the Linux V4L2 framework etc...?
