  • This sounds like maybe your NFS service on the host is not enabled (see section 4.3.5 of GSG).  Actually, after analyzing the log a bit more, the ip addresses do not make much sense to me

       TFTP from server 172.22.192.2; our IP address is 172.22.1.100; sending through gateway 172.22.0.1

    suggests you loaded you Linux kernel via TFTP and your host address is 172.22.192.2; but the following bootlog line

       Kernel command line: console=ttyS0,115200n8 noinitrd rw ip=172.22.1.100:172.22.1.217::255.255.252.0:dm6467:eth0: root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=172.22.1.217:/home/mindtree/workdir/filesys,nolock mem=120M davincihd_capture.channel0_numbuffers=4

    suggests you are using static IP of 172.22.1.217 for your Linux host; unless you are using two distinct linux host PCs (not sure why you would want to), I would expect same host IP address.

  • Thank you very much Juan for the input.

    I will try that change..and see that EVM boots properly..

  • Hi pradeep.

    Try this:

    setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200n8 noinitrd rw ip=172.22.1.100:172.22.1.217::255.255.252.0:dm6467:eth0: root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=$(nfshost):$(rootpath),nolock,tcp mem=120M davincihd_capture.channel0_numbuffers=4

    After adding the tcp flag, it worked on my machine.

  • After re-installing my NFS it started working...I got rid of the error.

    Thanks for the support...

  • Hello I am facing problem in booting DM6467 EVM ..

    Currently I m following GSGuide for TMS320DM6467 and want to Test the shared file System(chapter 4.3.6 of GSG).

    I want to Boot from Flash Using NFS file system and for that when I set my boot arguments as mentioned in Section 4.3.6 GSG Appendix A3.3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200n8 noinitrd rw ip=dhcp root=/de v/nfs nfsroot=$(nfshost):$(rootpath),nolock mem=120M davincihd_capture.channel0_ numbuffers=4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I am getting following errors in boot process: . . . Sending DHCP Request.....time out!

    In order to solve this ,I used static Ip approach and my new environment variables are: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200n8 noinitrd rw ip=10.3.28.60:10 .3.28.40:10.3.28.1:255.255.255.0::off root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=10.3.28.40:/home/bil al/workdir/filesys, nolock mem=120M davincihd_capture.channel0_numbuffers=4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Now another error of Kernel Panic is coming in boot process and again I am unable to boot from NFS . :

  • Hello,

    in my recent post, i mentioned the problem faced in boot process of DM6467.

    By changing my environment variables again to ip= dhcp  , and using root=/dev/hda1 boot process is

    running now. But this is not helping me in mounting my host directory filesys to target board as i am booting

    from EVM hard drive filesystem instead of NFS file system.

    So, Can someone please suggest me how to work with root=/dev/nfs in dm6467 boot process ,as uptil now

    i am getting kernel panic error whenever i set root=/dev/nfs in bootargs ...

    ( Note: there is no /nfs folder in  /dev folder ,either in Board linux or host linux filesystem and i am getting

    ' No such file or directory ' when i tried cd /dev/nfs .If that is the reason behind kernel panic error then please

    let me know how to fix it ..)

    Thanks,

    Bilal

  • Hi,

    You should set the path to nfsroot as well as review the /etc/exports on your host

    Example for bootargs as follows: root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.10.1:/path/to/rootfs

    According to above example the /etc/exports/  file should contain /path/to/nfsroot *(rw,insecure,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,sync)

    Prior booting the target, do not forget to restart the server [/etc/init.d/nfs restart]

    Use nfsstat to check server statistics, you may refer to http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s05.html for performance optimization.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for the reply Michael. Although I'm already using the same method but I will try  this

    again and let you know the results afterward.
