TDA2EG: 2D Surround View Calibration Checkered Pattern Size Issue

Part Number: TDA2EG

Hi

I am calibrating the 2D surround view, and got a not bad geometric alignment result on the toy model car.

Now i am trying to calibrate it on a real vehicle which is much bigger than toy model car.

According to the "VisionSDK_UserGuide_2D_SurroundView_Demo.pdf", in the calibrating of toy model car, the print size of Checkered Pattern is A4. My question is that if i want to calibrate on a real vehicle, what the print size of checkered pattern should be?

Thanks

xuanbo

  • 2D surround view chart hasn't been tested for a real car. Instead, another chart for 3D surround view has been used for real one. (Please refer to VisionSDK_UserGuide_3D_SurroundView_TDA3xx_Demo.pdf). Our chart size for real car is about 1.75m x 1.75 m. But its size should depend on car size and fish-eye camera setup.

For this new chart, online calibration usecase can generate perspective matrix for 2D surround view. (Unfortunately, there is no offline tool that generates 2D perspective matrix with the new chart)

As answered in e2e.ti.com/.../677475, run time calibration in 2D surround view will fine tune the perspective matrix for minor shake of cameras. With this new chart, run-time calibration may or may not succeed. Since the initial perspective matrix is used in case of failure, it should be okay even though the run-time calibration fails.
  • Hi Do-Kyoung Kwon

Do you mean the whole chart size is 1.75m x 1.75 m? or just the black square in each corner is 1.75*1.75m.

Suppose the size of real car is 4.6*1.7*1.4 m, i think we can not put the real car at the center of chart with size of 1.75m x 1.75 m...

    Thanks

  • Hi Xuanbo,

Yes, black square in each corner is 1.75m x 1.75m. You need four of them.
  • Hi Do-Kyoung Kwon

OK, i got it~ I will try the chart you suggested.

    Thanks
