Linux/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X: SDK support lifetime

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I am wondering how long TI plans to support the TI SDK 3.x version of the Sitarra SDK?

Thank you,

Mark

  • Mark,

We use a LTS Kernel from the Linux community so that the kernel received community support for as long as possible. This has been changing some, but generally ranges from 2 or more years. Again, this is for community support.

We support the Processor SDK for about 2 years. For the first year, we provide quarterly updates. For the second year, it's more maintenance and bug fixes against validated features. So, when PLSDK 5 comes out later in the year, PLSDK 3 will transition to unsupported.

New feature development is always done upstream. Those requiring those features in older SDKs would need to backport them accordingly.

Longer term support can be provided by commercial Linux vendors that make this their expertise, if it is not desired to keep this in house.

I hope this answers your question.
  • Thanks- I believe tha answers my question.
