AM3359: Profinet questions

Part Number: AM3359

Hello,

Can you support with a customer query;

1. Could you confirm that this device is capable of operating as a Profinet Master(with or without the correct software stack)?

2. We are keen to modify this device according to our requirements – I have located the schematic .pdf and .DSN files, but would like to be able to modify them in our schematic capture and layout tool – DxDesigner, (or alternatively Eagle). Please could you send us editable versions? Or are these unavailable due to intellectual property?

  the question is related to; Certified Profinet IRT V2.3 Device with 1 GHz ARM Application Processor Reference Design

Will appreciate the help.

Linda

  • The RTOS team have been notified. They will respond here.
  • Linda,

    1. It appears to be AM335x "capable of operating as Profinet master" from limited info provided by Profinet controller stack vendors. I am trying to find out if more comprehensive analysis has been done, will update you asap.

    2. The schematics posted on the product page do contain our editable design file .DNS, though it’s for Cadence. DxDesigner should be able to import the file. Note we do not verify the schematics for correctness imported into other tools, the customer need to do more sanity checks against the PDF version we provide.

    Regards,
    Garrett
  • HI Garret,

    Thank you for your earlier response.

    Unfortunately customer has not had  any success importing the schematic (.dsn) and layout (.brd) files into either Eagle or DxDesigner;

    Eagle error when opening: AM335x_ICE_3H0013_PCB_REV_2_1A.brd

    DxDesigner error when importing: TMDXICE3359_SCH_3H0013_rev2_1a.DSN

    Can you spot something that might be missing?

    Regards

    LInda

  • Linda,

    For Profinet master question, I discussed with development team and confirmed that we have been focusing on Profinet slave only. Customer may need experiment the Profinet master porting on AM335x. It doesn't seem there is blocking issue.

    I have looped in EVM team to comment on the Eagle/DxDesigner portable schematic file.

    Regards,
    Garrett
  • Linda,

    You may have noticed the comments : unfortunately we do not have other formats (for EVM schematic) available.
    I am closing the thread...

    Regards,
    Garrett
