Hi everybody ,

please I m going to have both Ethercat ( on PRUs ) and ethernet connection in my design ..

one question : what about MAC addresses ?

are they included in the chip offering ? could you give me suggestions /indications ?

I need both on PRUs and GMAC

Hi Carlo,

Unique MAC addresses for the two CPSW EMAC ports are factory programmed in the device. MAC addresses for the PRU-ICSS are not available at chip level.

I think the two MAC addresses stored in the device represent the start and end address for the address RANGE, assigned to this particular device, as explained here: e2e.ti.com/.../1130696

I will ask the factory team for confirmation. They will respond here.

Biser is correct. This device only has two TI-provided MAC_IDs. The values for these MAC_IDs are contained in the 4x CTRL_CORE_MAC_ID_SW registers.

Hello Carlo,
Yes, the values are unique as defined by the IEEE Registration Authority (RA). TI purchases address blocks from the RA and programs devices with the addresses contained therein.

One important note: although the values are unique, there is no guarantee that the values are from the same block. In other words, you cannot assume that your device MAC addresses will always fall within a certain range.
