DevRocket Update

I notice through the MontaVista Zone that a new version of DevRocket is available (ver 5.2).  I still have the old version 2.0.5 installed and would like to upgrade but can't find a download link anywhere in the MVZone.  Does anyone know how do download the newer IDE?  Thanks.

    You need access to MontaVista Zone which I assume you have from the post above; if so, simply go to the following link

    Thanks for the quick response.  I get a message telling me that I'm not authorized to download the files when I follow that link.  Are all purchasers of TI's Linux development kit for DaVinci supposed to get rights to download updates to the IDE or is that a separate fee?  If you don't know the answer, I suppose I should contact my local sales rep?

    Just a note on this (potentially off topic), though DevRocket 5.2 should be fine to develop with as it supports prior Monta Vista Linux versions, I would be cautious if you are also considering using MV 5.0 at this time, since our current DVSDK software only supports MV 4.x we have little support for MV 5.0 however this should change in the coming months with the next major release of the DVSDK software.

    SJackson,

    If you cannot access the link I provided, it probably means that that version of DevRocket is not included with your license subscription.  It is like Windows XP vs Windows Vista, buying one does not entitle you to the other newer version of DevRocket (I know, the analogy is not very good).

    You can always contact MontaVista and ask how much it would be to upgrade.

    Architecturally Montavista implmeneted flexlm license management for DevRocket 5.x. Thus a yearly subscription is necessary to keep your licenses up to date. Prior to 5.x, you mentioned you were using 2.0.5, DevRocket did not check for a license. 

    Call your friendly MontaVista representative.

    yeah.  in fact, if your license expire, your DevRocket 5 will not work which we did not aware of it.  I was told we paid big money for this.  Does TI have any solution to this problem for us?

    Unfortunately, I have received confirmation that this is indeed the case with DevRocket 5.x, when the License expires it will cease to work.  There is not much TI can do, this is a decision MontaVista has implemented in their DevRocket IDE tool.  What TI has done for our customers is negotiated a more favorable pricing for our customers who choose to buy MV License thru one of our DVSPB software packages.  If you were to buy MV License straight from MV, you will likely pay much more.
