Linux/AM5708: Ethernet issue

On AM5708 custom board, ethernet does not come up at all in the Kernel.

I am getting this error on boot:

[ 13.156220] cpsw 48484000.ethernet: gpio request failed, ret -517

How do I identify which GPIO pin is being used for Ethernet? I've checked the schematics of EVMs, but I couldn't find any GPIO being connected anywhere near MII interface.

Hi Biser, thanks for the link. It doesn't seem to discuss on the CPSW configuration in regards to kernel device tree.

I suspect I am just one ore two pin mux away from working Ethernet, judging by the error message.

Hi Adam,

I need to ask a few questions:
- Which TI Processors SDK Kernel are you using?
- How did you build or create your DTS file? Did you copy one of the existing ones provided in the TI SDK in the arch/arm/boot/dts directory?
- Which EVM schematics are you checking? There are several for this class of processor.

I am guessing but what looks like is happening is that you started with one of the dra7x DTS files as your starting point. The DRA7x EVMs used a gpio to a mux to switch between an LCD and the PHY/data pins. The reason for the guess is that I am not familiar with the DRA7x EVMs and I am basing this on the DTS Documentation bindings info for cpsw and looking through the DRA7x DTS files.

Hi Biser, please disregard this post. I am not actually using TI's DP83867 as the Phy.
