BEAGLEXM: Regarding LED flicker mitigation

Hello expert,

I want to make a front camera module for the autonomous vehicle. I'm using Beagle-xM and OmniVision OV10650 CMOS Image Sensor. I want to know that for Led light mitigation, we can right algorithm or not? It is just a hardware-based thing or software based also? Like in front camera we need to detect traffic signal which has led light flickering, we can reduce that using some algorithm??

Hi Harsh,

Texas Instruments can not suggest you LED light mitigation algorithms but you can manage the LED light via PWM interface. You can manage period (frequency) duty cycle. You can find more details at:

Hi Tsvetolin Shulev,

Sorry, My question is not what are you explaining.

My question is, when we drive on road then traffic light flicker at certain frequency, which cannot be detect by human eye very easily. But when we make video using phone camera then we can see easily that flickering. So, I'm making a camera for ADAS vehicle and want to remove that flicker when my car front camera capture that moment.

Traffic lights has certain frequency, I am asking about is it possible to write algo in my BeagleBoard-xM for reducing the flicker or its totally depend on my CMOS Image sensor.?

I'm afraid that I can not suggest you flicker suppression (reduction) algorithm because this forum is dedicated to DaVinci processors and TI's software releases related issues but camera related algorithms are out of the scope of this forum but you can search in the net for some open source flicker reduction algorithm implementation like these:
