need gurbar board design for TDA2px with AWR1243.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243

Hi,

We are working on RADAR usecase implementation.

We need to know is there any board support for RADAR chip (AWR1243) integration with TDA2px board.

We could not find any detail in TI.com.

Can we get any gurbar diagram to build the board ourselves.

  • Hi Vasantha,

Do you want to interface a single AWR1243 with TDA2px? Have you done any analysis on the compute requirements for the radar signal processing to evalutate with TDA2px is a right fit or TDA3x?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Piyali
  • Hi,

We have TDA2px board and AWR1243 board.

We need to know the details about how can we connect these and make communication for seamless RADAR performance.
We could not find the same, so we need the gerber design for making the board ourselves.
  • Hi Vasantha

If I understood your question correctly, you are more interested in a sort of interface board which can connect a TDA2px EVM with a AWR1243 Booster pack for evaluation.

We unfortunately do not have any board schematics/gerber for the TDA2px EVM interfacing with the AWR1243 booster. However, we do have some details for the TDA3xx EVM + AWR1243 booster pack. Kindly get in touch with your TI representative for this data for reference.

However, I would stress on the point I made in my earlier post. At a system level the question to consider would be what is your processing requirement for single AWR1243 data processing on the TDA device and then make a decision on which TDA part is suitable.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Piyali

Thanks for the suggestions and advice!

We are building a prototype and have purchased the TDA2x+ Fusion baord. We picked the largest SoC from TI so that we are not constrained on the MIPS/memory for any application. Production part selection can be based on the core loading on this proto platform for the apps.

We expect the fusion board enable Sesnor fusion and support Radar/US etc. Can you please confirm it is NOT possible to interface any other sensor with the TDA2x+ Fusion board ?! If not, what is the way you advise here? Is there an adapter card but not sold by TI today and expected later point in time?

Also any reason why the TDA3x/P can support it - is it some kind of HW interface missing on TDA2x/P baords??? Would you be able to share some info please?

Thanks and appreciate your support here!

    Best Regards
    Feroz
  • Hi Feroz,

We do not have any adapter boards to connect the AWR1243 booster boards directly with the TDA2px Fusion board. You could potentially use FPDLink based connectivity which connects the D3 Engineering (d3engineering.com/.../) AWR1243 radar module to the TDA2px Fusion board.

For TDA3xx we have had some custom adapter board solutions in the past. They are no longer supported by TI but can be potentially used as reference if you are looking at recreating this setup.
Additionally for TDA3xx we also have some third party solutions like from D3 Engineering and CBCline (www.ti.com/.../thirdpartydevtoolfolder.tsp who can help you get started.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Piyali,

Thank you for the additional info and comprehensive response.

Is the CSI2 the HW interface connecting to TDA3x? Sure we will explore the 3rd parties and see if they connect to TDA2x+ or fusion boards ... Could you share the Adaptor card references please? You may please share with Jatin Bhandari/Praveen and they can share with me

BTW, is there a way to simulate the radar signals in a certain data format. Do we have any test repositories for this development we could utilize for automotive? I see the NULL source use case via SD/Ethernet is used to run Radar FFT so just wanted to explore this option...

    Thanks a bunch!

    Best Regards

  • Hi Feroz,

I will work with the team to share the Adapter card reference.

For the test data generation, the AWR12 firmware allows generating a test pattern for up to two objects at certain distance and moving at certain velocity. This logic is however inside the firmware and can be invoked by the SPI commands to the AWR12.

The NULL SRC based usecase allows algorithm developers to use pre-captured data and then fine tune their algorithms.

    Thanks and Regards,
