DRA726: DS90UB954 EVM to TDA2E EVM (DRA726) via CSI2

Hi,

I want to contact the CSI2 output of DS90UB954-Q1 EVM to the CSI2 input of J6ECO/TDA2E EVM for display on a monitor connected to the HDMI port.

The deserialiser DS90UB954-Q1 EVM is mated with the serialiser DS90UB953-Q1 EVM.  The serialiser has a sensor daughtercard which the serialiser user guide states to be an OVT10460.

I think this may be a misprint and it should be OV10640.

It isn't obvious from the App Image what settings I should select to make this connection.  Can you help clarify?

    Hi Paul,

    OV10640 based UB953 is not supported on TDA2Ex.

    The OV10640 is supplied as a daughter card with the DS90UB953 EVM. I have it configured as part of my DS90UB953 EVM and DS90UB954 setup. This allows me to output a CSI-2 data stream. I am connecting this directly to the CSI-2 port of the TDA2Ex EVM using the mate connector on the DS90UB954 EVM. I would then like to switch this input to the HDMI output for observation on a suitable monitor.

    Do you mean that this configuration can not be supported with my TDA2Ex EVM? If so, what is reason?

    Hi Paul,

    Can you check if the camera board has only OV10640 or OV10640 + OV490?

    This is because OV10640 outputs only RAW data and there is no HW module in TDA2Ex to convert it into YUV.

    Thanks for the clarification. Do you know if there is a software module available to perform the conversion?

    Or if that is not an option do you know if the DRA78x-15X15 EVM has the hardware module to do the required conversion?

    Paul,

    There is no SW module to convert RAW to YUV. There is an HW ISP module to do this, but it is supported on TDA3x and TDA2Px SoC.

    Hi Brijesh,

    Can you confirm that the desired result from the setup described in my May 9 post above will be achieved if I connect to EVMTDA3G-02-40-00 – TDA3XEVM Evaluation Module.  This is the one on the TI website and noted as available from Spectrum Digital.

    Hi Paul,

    As Brijesh mentioned, we don't support this combination of OV10640+UB953 -> UB954 + TDA2Ex. Having said that, we have tested and support
    1. OV10640 + UB913 -> UB964 + TDA3x/TDA2Px
    2. UB954 + TDA2Ex/TDA3x/TDA2Px is tested
    3. IMX390 + UB953 -> UB960 + TDA2Px

    In short you will have to add support to configure UB953 & UB954. Configuration for OV10640 is available and can be processed on TDA3x (TI AEWB)
