Hi All,
We want to use AM3517 to play H.264 or MP4 file on a 7 inch LCD,
Is there any HW decode on AM3517?
Or just decode those files with software ?
Thanks.
Jack

Hi All,
I found this information:
"The PowerVR SGX family also accelerates vector graphics content processing, including providing class-leading OpenVG performance. PowerVR SGX family video/image decode and encode processing support covers a broad range of standards such as H.264, MPEG-4/2, VC-1 (WMV9), JPEG and others."
from http://www.imgtec.com/corporate/newsdetail.asp?NewsID=315
And the AM3517 has a PowerVR SGX Graphics Accelerator,
Does meaning AM3517 support decode H.264, MPEG4 also?
Thanks.
On AM3517, the ARM and NEON are used for video decoding. NEON optimised decoders are available from 3P vendors, and from FFMPEG plugins in the linux opensource community. The SGX on 3517 does not have capability to do any video decode. If you are looking for optimised video decoding, look for parts like 3730 with DSP acceleration.
Li Jack,
Ittiam provides codecs (H.264, MPEG4, MPEG2 and WMV9/VC1) on AM35xx and AM37xx devices. Let me know if you are still intrested in it. Visit www.ittiam.com for more details.
