TDA3MV: H.264,H.265 support in TDA3X SOC

Part Number: TDA3MV

I am planning to use the TDA#X for Automotive design and require H.264,H.265 Encoder. In the datasheet it is mentioned

TDA3X has the following

Up to 2 C66x Floating-Point VLIW DSP
– Fully Object-Code Compatible With C67x and
C64x+
– Up to Thirty-two 16 × 16-Bit Fixed-Point
Multiplies per Cycle

Can we use the above to generate H.264,H.265 Encoding.

  • Hello,

Search the e2e, there is a ton of threads about DSP C66x and HEVC. Looks like it is supported, not sure about the performance though.

However, if you will be doing a lot of encoding/decoding, I can suggest switching to TDA2x which has a dedicated encoding/decoding engine (IVA-HD) that is missing in TDA3x. The Vision SDK leverages on the engine and has a lot of examples and documentation for H.264 encoding/decoding.

    Thanks,
    Alex
