AM57X: Flashing several devices at the same time

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hello,

we currently have a hardware with the AM3352 and use its Ethernet boot mode to flash several devices at the same time.

We think of using the AM57x for a new hardware design, but have noticed that the RBL doesn't have Ethernet boot capability in this case.

Is there a simple way to flash several AM57x at the same time, or is the only option to flash each device separately via DFU?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

  • Michael,

The "simple" way is definitely to use DFU. There are more complex scenarios (some much more complex) that could be considered, but we haven't validated them at this time and they would certainly require quite a bit more work to set up.
  • Thanks for your answer, Ron.

Since we are going to order an AM57x IDK anyway, we'll evaluate if an SD card would be fast enough for our needs. Then we could create bootable SD cards in bulk instead of having to write an on-board Flash via USB.

Originally I wanted to use SATA, but the media would be too expensive for our cost goal.

Just yesterday, I had the opportunity again to see 24 AM335x devices being flashed at the same time thanks to the Ethernet boot option, which is really impressive. I was hoping to be able to replicate something similar for the AM57x, but we'll have to work with what is possible.

    Thanks again,

    Michael
