AM3358: USB Host mode without VBUS signal

Hi,

Can i operate the USB1 peripheral in host mode without the VBUSIN signal activated? Is there something that can be done in FW to ignore/over ride the VBUSIN signal to make the USB interface work properly in host mode?

Hi, we are using Debian for the Beagle Bone Black. In our design we use the Octavo system on board which has the AM3358 but we did not route out the VBUSIN signal for USB1. We want to use USB1 in host mode but it looks like Debian needs this signal to work properly. Is there some register setting that we can adjust to make USB1 work in host mode without the VBUSIN signal?

Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of the office.

The short answer to your question is - there is no sw control to it, the VBUS_IN signal has to be connected.

The TRM section 16.2.7 "USB Controller Host and Peripheral Mode Operation" explains the detail how VBUS_IN signal is used for operating in host mode.
