AM5728: McASP DSP example issue

Hi,

I am using evmAM572x in one of the projects which involves audio processing.

So as a starting point I have used the McASP related example project, I used "pdkProjectCreate.sh" script to generate the example project.

I am able to import the example project and build it.

I am presently using "MCASP_Audio_evmAM572x_c66ExampleProject" example project generated from "pdkProjectCreate.sh" script.

From that example project according to my understanding I must listen back the audio what I speak ,but I am unable to listen back the spoken words. I am unable to listen anything not even noise.

I am using the stereo headset with mic to test the setup.

What would be the possible issue, please suggest me.

Janardan,

The audio Line in on AM572x GP EVM doesn`t connect a microphone BIAS hence you wont be able to use microphone without hardware mod. Check the discussion here. Currently you can connect a stereo cable from your phone or PC to the EVM and play music and you should be able to here the playback on the speakers or headphones connected to lineout.

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the response, if there is availability of active microphones in market using which mentioned concern can be tackled?

If it is available , will the on board CODEC be able to take the spoken audio signals?

I am working on audio application for first time, please help me out.

The MIC BIAS is intended for electret microphones (PC mics) which need a voltage bias to generate a small AC signal (ie a capacitor where the sound pressure changes the distance between the charged plates)

Dynamic mics instead generate a small AC signal with an electrical conductor moving through a magnetic field. They do not require the voltage bias.
