AM4379: HDMI issue

Part Number: AM4379
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218

Hi, I bought the Myer437X Developing Board, and recent days I wanted to test the HDMI display function.

All work are done successfully until I start the linux system.

When the kernel starts, we can see something wrong happens like below:

[  277.941028] sched: RT throttling activated

[  278.961540] omap_i2c 44e0b000.i2c: controller timed out

[  278.981235] tps65218 0-0024: Write for reg 0x17 failed

However, if I unplug the HDMI line, and reset, nothing wrong happens. But, when I plug the HDMI line, the error appears again.

I don't know why. Does anybody have the same problem, or who can help me to solve it?

  • Hello,

What is the software release that you are using here?

  • Hello,

I meant the PSDK version that you are using.
    Please check the below guides:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Linux_Core_DSS_User's_Guide
    e2e.ti.com/.../580352
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Processor_Linux_SDK_Graphics_and_Display
    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,
My problem is when plug in the HDMI line, the kernel will be blocked, and I can do nothing. No PSDK is used. Just use make tool to build the kernel which offered by Myer Tech. I don't know whether the HDMI line, which is VGA-HDMI, causes the problem. Or maybe something wrong with the software configuration.
    Anyway, thanks!
  • Hello,

I am sorry I would recommend you to contact the company from where you bought the board.

In this forum we are supporting TI SDKs.

  • Hello,

Per my understanding you are not using TI kernel or TI board. So I am not sure how we could help you.
I would recommend you to try with different hdmi cable for example.
I would also recommend you to check your device tree (is hdmi enable, etc). You could use device trees(not only) in psdk as reference.
    You could check this limitation:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Linux_Core_DSS_User's_Guide
Keep in mind that the following commands need to be executed at boot prompt also
    setenv optargs video=HDMI-A-1:1024x768
    saveenv
    Hope this helps.

    BR
