AM5718: MAC Multicast configuration lost after link loss

Hi:

I am working with an AM571x-IDK board and trying to configure MAC muticast addresses in the GMAC.

I got it by setting the GMAC in switch mode and using the SIOCSWITCHCONFIG ioctl.

But the issue is that when a link loss happens, the multicast configuration seems to get lost.

Hi,

If the link detection is lost then the interface will go through the interface tear down process, any entries in the switch will be lost.

You will have to detect the link went and re-add the multicast addresses back in using the ioctl that you mentioned. I would also check to make sure all the entries are gone before adding the rules back.

Here is one method to detect link status, example here is for eth0. There may some better methods if researched.

cat /sys/class/net/eth0/carrier

and perhaps

cat /sys/class/net/eth0 /operstate

Running "switch-config -d" will dump the switch configuration. You should be able to check there.
