Two question regarding to choosing a chip and load program

Dear All,

I am checking the difficult parameters for DSP chips. It is not clear here.

1) what is RAM here. Is it DDR2 SDRAM?

2) Also, if we don't have ROM/FLASH, where should we store the program on the chip? Or does it have to be a external flash/rom to store the program?

Thank you very much.

regards,

da

  • Hi,

    1. RAM is the on-chip Program/data RAM to which the on-chip memory is mapped.

    2. Some of the DSP chips do have on-chip ROM/FLASH but the size is very small, around 384 KB etc, so a better option could be to use an external FLASH to do what is popularly called as Bootloading.
