WEBENCH® Tools/AM4378: Pinmux warnings

we are adding a daughter board to the 4378 EVM board. we are connecting to J30.

we have a pinmux solution but it contains warning about voltage conflicts.

can we have it verified that this configuration is safe? thanks

From PinMux tool perspective these warnings are valid. Take gpmc_wait0 on A2 ball as an example. You have configured the overall preferred voltage to (Any 3V3). Which means any power rail for that module that is set to 1V8 will show a warning. For the gpmc_wait0 on A2, the VDDSHV11 is configured to 1V8, thus you see the warning. If you want these warnings gone, click the "configure" power voltage and adjust the VDDSHV11 to 3V3.

Now, whether this will be an actual hardware restriction, I don't think so. The chip design, which the pinmux tool database comes from, states that VDDSHV11 can be configured to both 1V8 and 3V3, so that shouldn't be a problem (note not all power rails are configurable). However, we always suggest crosschecking with the device Data Manual/datasheet to verify there are no restrictions on the power rails for the different voltages. I.e. see table "5.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings" and "5.5 Recommended Operating Conditions" in the device datasheet ( www.ti.com/.../am4379.pdf )

i checked with the datasheet and both VDDSHV9 and VDDSHV11 are both 1.8 and 3.3v capable. i changed the pinmux power configuration to make both of those 3.3V. in the peripherals tab it shows no warnings. in the pin layout tab it still shows warnings. do i still have warnings or not? did i fix my issue or do the cloud tools have a bug?

That looks like a bug in the pin layout view which does not refresh the pin renderings correctly to not show warning anymore. If you uncheck/check one of the pins again, it would refresh everything correctly and all pins will light up green. I will file an internal bug ticket for this to be fixed. Bottom line you should be fine now.
