In tms320c6a8168.pdf, it mentions "Programmability is provided by an ARM® Cortex™-A8 RISC CPU with NEON™ extension, TI C674x VLIW

floating-point DSP core, and high-definition video/imaging coprocessors. " There's no introduction about high-definition video/imaging coprocessors in the ds. Does any one have the detail introdction?

Hello,

This is in reference to a feature that will be made available in pin-compatible devices in the DaVinci (DM) product family that are targeted to be announced in 1Q11. These DM devices will include the high-definition video/imaging coprocessors which will support multichannel encode/decode functionality. The C6A816x devices do not include these high-definition video/imaging coprocessors. The datasheets for both product families were worked on at the same time and this coprocessors reference was placed in the C6A816x datasheet by accident; it will be removed in the next revision of the datasheet. Sorry about the confusion.

Does the C6A8168 (part of the C6A816x family) include the HDVPSS as per the datasheet (Oct 2010)? (although I know this device is not available yet)

The C6A816x does include the HD- VPSS. This is the video capture and display functionality. From the datasheet.

HD Video Processing Subsystem (HDVPSS)
– Two 165 MHz HD Video Capture Channels
• One 16/24-bit and One 16-bit Channel
• Each Channel Splittable Into Dual 8-bit Capture Channels
– Two 165 MHz HD Video Display Channels

• One 16/24/30-Bit and One 16-bit Channel
