Debug, emulate and programming EVMDM642 with PCI drivers... (...and without xds5xx emulator)

Hello,

I'm brazilian MSc student and I'm trying to programming an EVM we have in our University, the EVMDM642.

Unfortunatelly we don't have the xds5xx emulator (and is difficult toget this, fist money, second burocracy and third shippent issues).

There is some Valley Tech PCI drivers availeble for free in the Spectrum Digital EVM website, I try these to program my EVM, but without success.

Does anyone could help me wit this issue, Does the PCI drivers are made for this porpouse? There is another way to program and communicate with the EVM 642?

thanks in advance,

Daniboy

  • The Valley Tech PCI drivers are only for general purpose communication (such as PCI communication in your end application) and not for debugging the DSP, they cannot be used to interface to Code Composer Studio (CCS). You will need some form of XDS class emulator to work with CCS on the DM642 EVM board, though these are typically expensive. One lower cost emulation option that may be available one day is the XDS100, however currently it does not support the DM642 device.
