Friends,
I have a customer who is looking at whether or not the DM368 device is the right fit for his design. In particular, he has the following questions:

1. DM368 – How do I get the digital audio from 4 stereo channels into the chip? (The DM355 had an McASP, which supported this. The DM365/8 only has a single McBSP and I am not sure how to connect multiple stereo codecs to it.)

Also, I’d like someone to tell me if I can perform simultaneous encode of 1 channel of 720p H.264 and 3 channels of D1 H.264. (I’ve read it can handle 8 simultaneous channels of D1 H.264 or 1 channel of 1080p, so it seems plausible that it can do 1 720p and 3 D1’s at the same time.)
2.
DM3730 – This part has enough McBSP’s to support all my stereo codecs and I believe the camera interface can support the TVP5158, but I am not sure about the H.264 encode capabilities of the IVA2.2 in the DM3730 which should have much more performance than the OMAP3530.
He is looking to interface either DM368 or DM3730 to a TVP5158 but he needs higher audio sample rate than the TVP5158 can offer. Thus, external stereo audio ADCs or Codecs will be needed. Since the DM368 only has one McBSP interface, we need to determine how to connect multiple ADC devices to the DM368 (or alternative DSP device). My first thought is to use a logic device to collect the data from all the ADCs, perform time domain multiplexing, then feed the multiplexed data to the DM368.
Please let me know if you have answers to any of the above. In advance, thank you for your kind help.
Regards,
enrique
