Linux/AM5728: ROS between distributed nodes

Part Number: AM5728

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-AM57X  04_03_00_05, 5.3.9.4. ROS between distributed nodes (Sitara and LinuxBox), what is LinuxBox, HW? SW? Thanks.

  • Hi,

A very brief overview is that a LinuxBox is typically a Linux development machine that is running a Linux desktop distribution such as Ubuntu where both the kernel and application code is developed, usually these are x86 based PCs. There are several examples that can be searched for on the web that show how to set up such a machine. A Sitara device is a AM3x/AM4x/AM5x and typically the device that runs the kernel and application code that was developed on the LinuxBox.

It looks like you are referring to the examples and demos link of the SDK located here:

    software-dl.ti.com/.../Examples_and_Demos.html

Here the LinuxBox would be what a Linux Application developer would use which is a x86 based PC running a Ubuntu distribution. The Sitara device in this example is a AM5728 GP-EVM which is running the pre-built Linux kernel and demo application from the Texas Instruments Processor Linux SDK version 4.3.

    Best Regards,
    Schuyler
  • Hi,

Fellow e2e contributors are suggesting a term that needs clarification per the previous post which is this title

ROS between distributed nodes (Sitara and LinuxBox)

A LinuxBox in this context is what I was describing as x86 PC running a Ubuntu distribution. The development platform is referred to by several names, Linux Host, Linux PC, Linux Box. These are referring to the same thing.
