Can the DSP be booted independent of the ARM on the C6A816x

Can the C674x DSP be booted while keeping the ARM inert (in reset)?. To put it another way, can you use this chip, pretending that it just has the DSP in it and no ARM?.

Steve,

The device powers-up with the DSP held in reset, and there is no DSP ROM so the DSP has nothing to boot from. The A8 is expected to setup the DSP prior to releasing it from reset.

So you cannot run a simple "Hello World" app from CCS via the JTAG on the c6a816x evm? Instead, you have to use Syslink's ProcMgr to attach to the DSP, load a code image, and then start it up:

ProcMgr_open

ProcMgr_attach

ProcMgr_load

ProcMgr_start

When in this sequence may the JTAG be brought in to see what the DSP is doing?

Lee,

ProcMgr_start releases the DSP from reset. So you can connect to the DSP after ProcMgr_start has completed successfully.

Hi Lee,

Do you mind posting the program that has the ProcMgr_open(), ProcMgr_attach(), ProcMgr_load() and ProcMgr_start() funciton calls to load and start your "Hello World" app?

Just refer to SlaveLoader.c in the syslink samples, the same function calls are used.
