Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVMK2EX, AM1802
Hello
My customer is having mulitple failures with their AM5KEx eval boards and have the following questions
Over the course of this year we have been working with the 8 EVMK2EX development boards we ordered but have had a number stop communicating on the USB emulator interface. The team have been building a bone pile over a couple of months but this week told me that we now have 4 boards working and 4 not working which is impacting our SW development activities. I have had one of the HW engineers have a look at the 4 faulty boards and below is his summary
“
I’ve had a look at the 4 off faulty software evaluation boards.
I couldn’t really see anything obvious build wise but identified when powered that a microprocessor part U15 (Texas AM1802 ZWT) was hot to touch. This looked to be on the USB input side of the card and as this device also has a USB port (amongst other interfaces) seemed to be the most likely cause of failure.
I got this card inspected under the x-ray machine but as far as could be seen all BGA ball joints looked to be ok.
After powering the other three cards it was apparent that U15 was also getting hot, which was not the case for a working module.
So took some thermal images for reference – see attached.
“
Do you have any suggestions? Have you seen any issues with these boards before?
Do these boards come with warranty? We purchased 8 on PO 2218583 via AVNET Jan/Feb time. The build looks ok visually but we have not extensively investigated.
Should we ship one back to you for investigation?
We are currently investigating if we can use an external emulator on the JTAG interface to keep the SW team moving.
Any help appreciated
Many thanks for your help
