Linux/AM3352: 3G dongle issue

It takes a quite some time when i boot with 3g dongle with the print " Could not flush host Tx2 fifo : csr : 2003. " keeps poping up . After some time(few mins) board operates normally. Please provide a solution to avoid this problem. Also with newer 4g dongles this issue is not observed for the same device.

occurs at uboot....then it resumes normally

Do you mean the issue happens in uboot but works normally in Linux? or something else?

Yeah I am talking about the delay.....The delay occurs at uboot of few minutes (when booted with airtel 3g dongle inserted)....Then after that boot up occurs normally including kernel....But such delay is not observed for 4g dongle.....

It seems as if the time is being spent in clearing the tx fifo and after fifo is cleared everything goes normal......Anyone who reproduced the issue?....

Ronak,

Uboot normally doesn't activate USB during its boot process, unless user uses "usb reset" or "usb start" command.
Do you use any of the commands intend to use the 3G dongle? If not, we need to understand why Uboot is trying to enumerate the dongle, please provide your board sysboot settings.

Which Processor SDK version is the uboot come from?

As I mentioned above, uboot by default doesn't activate usb automatically unless was told to do so.

The screenshots you posted show the following message. Please help me understand how 'fatls' command is invoked in your system.

"Unable to use USB 0:1 for fatls"

We are using Ubuntu 14 .04 in the pc , please check the photos for the log . Please suggest the solution.

With 4g dongle the log is
USB0: Port not available
usb init failed

I don't care about your PC. Tell me why you init usb in your uboot, what you want to do with the 4G dongle in uboot?

Ronak,

It seems you don't understand what I was asking? Please explain why you u-boot activate usb which triggers enumerating the attached modem, and explain how you want to use the modem in uboot.

If you don't want to provide the information, my answer for you is - please remove the modem dongle from the usb port, U-Boot doesn't support usb modems.

Actually we do not want our customers to feel any problem in booting while the dongle is on. He need not have to remove again and again. Also we support usb device programming of boards. So we generated the test case from that.

I tried with multiple 3G dongles, but was unable to replicate the issue, so I am not sure what triggers the fifo flush error. But the patch below should shorten the delay for you.

There is no change in time required for boot up . Please suggest any other ideas.

The patch has two changes in fifo flush routine: 1) reduce the iteration, 2) remove 1ms delay.
If you made the two changes properly in your uboot source code and the issue still happens, then the delay is not caused in the fifo flush, but somewhere else. But you need to tell me where it is.

Obviously your uboot boot process uses command usb start (or usb reset), fatls, and autoupd. Please tell me which command causes the minutes-long delay, or elsewhere.
