Hi,

I have been trying to use AISgen and SPI Flash Writer to burn a program into flash memory on a C6748 but have encountered difficulties.

Using logic EVM with C6748 SOM.

Have a working .out file (that I can load and run from CCS) and this includes calls to functions EVMOMAPL138_init() and EVMOMAPL138_initRAM().

Have used AISgen for D800K006 to create .bin file. Device Type (according to memory location 0x11700000) is d800k004. In AISgen application I entered this information along with DSP, Boot Mode: SPI1 Flash, Clock Source: Crystal 24MHz, but didn't check any of the Configure PLL0, etc. boxes.

approx 40kB .bin file produced.

Loaded and ran SPIWriter_OMAP-L138.out (from OMAP-L138_FlashAndBootUtils version 2.29).

Answered 'n' to first question.

Four minutes later, message 'INFO: File read complete' appeared.

SPIWriter program continued running but after half an hour and no further messages I halted it.

Any help appreciated. Is this anything to do with the XDS100v1 JTAG interface?

Hi Donald,

There is a bug in the SPI writer. See this post for the fix which will be included in the next release. The issue is that the pinmuxing is setup for SPI0 rather than SPI1.

Success!

Following the advice in the thread you gave a link to, I downloaded C6748_setupwin32_1_00_00_11.exe then installed OMAPL138_Flash_Utility_01.00.00.01 and, using CCSv3.3, edited file davinci_spi.c, rebuilt spiflash_writer.out, ran it, and successfully programmed the flash memory.

I have yet to see if I can use this spi flash writer from CCSv4.

So, I'm happy. But, what is SPIWriter_OMAP-L138.out that I was trying previously and which came in OMAP-L138_FlashAndBootUtils_2_29.tar.gz ?

^{That is yet another flashing utility. You should be able to get that to work by setting up the pinmuxing correctly as well.}
