Cannot save a project in CCS v3.3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Trying to save any porject in CCS 3.3, got message: "Cannot save the project ... Not all build tools are loaded".

I have no clue what this mean. The projects built and ran without any problem. Just I can't save any project.

Any help is appreciated.

  • This sounds like something was damaged in your CCS install, specifically one of the dll files in your code generation tools likely did not register properly or was inadvertently removed. I am curious if you did anything prior to seeing this error like installing a new set of code generation tools or upgrading CCS? My first thought on fixing this would be go download a newer version of the code generation tools and/or the latest CCS service pack from the update advisor site (under the help menu of CCS), as installing a newer package or reinstalling the existing package will normally fix any broken dll links. I would also make sure that when you are running CCS and installing such updates that you have administrative privelages on your PC.

  • Every time I try to save my Project, I get the following error:

    "Cannot save the project

     'C:\projects\mydir\myprojectfile.pjt'.

Not all build tools are loaded"

This suddenly started happening to me when I upgraded the build tools to Code Generation Tools v6.1.6.  It doesn't matter if I revert back to v6.1.5, I'm getting this full-time, and it is keeping me from creating new projects as well.

What can I do to fix this?

I use the C64xx tools for the DM648 (C64x+ options).

    Thanks,

  • I merged your thread with this older one to keep discussion on this particular error in one place, since this looks to be the exact same problem.

Since the last this came up I came across a couple potential solutions, I had one customer say that after editing the .pjt file by hand and saving it he was able to save it with CCS again as one option, though this may not apply since you are seeing the issue with new project files as well.

The easiest way to fix this will probably be to uninstall and reinstall CCS, though this takes time it is the most likely way to fix the problem.

If you want to look into the actual failure a bit more I would take a look to see if you have a C:\CCStudio_v3.3\C6000\cgtools\bin\bti6000.dll file, as it looks like this file may be directly related to CCS giving you the 'not all build tools are loaded' error. If you do still have the file than you could try re registering it with regsvr32 on the command line, if that does not fix it than you could try installing an earlier version of the CGT to see if that recovers the file, and if all that fails reinstalling CCS will fix it. If you would like we could try an experiment and I could send you my bti6000.dll file to see if inserting one that is working fixes the issue, but that would be a long shot.

  • Thanks Bernie....

Apparently reinstalling the DM648 DVSDK fixed my problem, and CCS33 SR 11 is now working normally again.  I don't fully understand why this happened, but I'm glad it is working again.

BTW, I'm using DVSDK v1.10.0.26 for the DM648.

  • I am glad to hear it is working, I wish I knew more about what actually causes that to happen myself, luckily these sorts of issues are generally easy to fix with just reinstallation of something.

Just to put anyone else reading this at rest I installed the 6.1.6 CGT on my setup and I was still able to save a project, so there is some combination of software installs (or just being unlucky) that leads to this, not just the act of installing 6.1.6 CGT.

  •

I found a bit more about this problem, but still can't fix it and don't know why.

It's a pain to re-install the whole CCS. But it does fix the problem. If it keep that way, everything is fine.

However, after two weeks, the exact same problem shows up again. Here is what happened:

on Friday afternoon, I save the project and leave the CCS open for the whole weekend.

On Monday morning, when I try to save a project, the "Can't save project" problem reappears.

Look like if you keep CCS open for a long time, like a week or more, it will trigger this problem.

I thought it must caused by some log file getting too large. But I can't find any large log file

in the whole CCS directory tree.

Can some CCS expert shade some light on this?

  • That is an interesting theory, and sounds plausible, I am not sure what sort of testing is done with leaving CCS open for long periods of time if any, and if this is the case resolving an issue like this could be fairly difficult. This being said currently the only feedback I could provide would be to continue with the reinstall process (or restart the PC every few days). I would certainly be curious to know if this is reproduceable, if you can get it to happen a second time I could set up a test PC and see if I can get it to happen here as well, from there I could pass it on to the developers and submit it as a bug.

  • Hi, all

I just encountered similar problem, and it is fixed by reinstall DM648 dvsdk maybe there is some relationship between them.

  • I'm not working with DM64xx, anyway I  encountered the same problem with my project on C6000.

I upgraded to c6000 cgtools 6.1.15 and could no more save my project with the above message. Re-registering files did not help.

While the directory of the old cgtools binaries contained the file "bti6000Cdb.dll" and the new cgtools binaries directory doesn't, I tried to un-register that dll by calling

        regsvr32 /u bti6000Cdb.dll

that helped. I can now save my project files again.

kind regards and good luck to all the complete-re-installers! ;-)
