Linux/AM3352: eMMC boot time

Part Number: AM3352

Tool/software: Linux

Dear Champs,

My customer want to optimize booting time and found it takes 1.2sec to read 7MB image from their 8bit NAND.

So, they are considering to use eMMC flash memory to reduce this time, and want to know how much will be improved with 8bit eMMC.

When I checked kernel performance guide, I found 6.x MByte/sec read performance in NAND and 20.x MByte/sec in MMC/SD Driver, and I can expect 3x improvements in image read time at boot.

Do you agree this expectation of 2~3 x times improvement in image read even at 300Mhz AM3352?

Thanks and Best Regards,

SI.
