ANY advice in Power consumption in DM6431?

Hi!

we have made a DM6431 system, the current is 500mA in fully running.
in idle time, the current is 400mA,the lost 100mA just because turn off the light. So is there any way can play down the power consumption in idle time?

PS:we have made a BF527 system to do the same thing,it's just use 270mA in fully running.

thanks a lot

  • Probably the biggest thing you can do is put the pll in bypass mode.  Depending on how fast you need to resume at full speed, you could even shut off the pll and run off the external crystal for more savings.  There are various ticky tacky power saving things you can do, although I can't confess to having used all of them before.  You can power down portions of the 3.3V i/o, power down peripherals, L2 memory, etc.  I know that TI has a power analysis spreadsheet for this family somewhere on the website that you could search for.

  • The power consumption documentation that Matt mentioned can be found here. You may also want to take a look at chapter 7 of SPRU987 for some internal power down options.
