Linux/TMDSEVM437X: Camera sensor recommendation

Part Number: TMDSEVM437X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM4378,

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

I need choose the sensor for capture image  with 1600x1200 resolution . I found on the website  http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/docs/latest/linux/Release_Specific.html#kernel-performance-guide

.You have tested the image capture with   1600x1200  resolution on the AM43XX-GPEVM.

I have  TMDSEVM437X  on hand, and I will design a embeded system with 1600x1200 resolution sensor using AM4378, can you give me some suggestions on choosing the sensor models, and it will be better if  the sensor have the  driver in linux, thank you.

      Best regards,

Jianhua Yuan

  • Hi Jianhua,

AM437x can do 16k pixels in both direction, so yes 1920x1200 capture is possible on this SoC. What is the frame rate at which you want to capture 1920x1200 image? Note that AM437x has maximum pixel clock rate of 75 MHz only, so you cannot capture that resolution at 30 fps.

OV2659 sensor supports 1920x1200 resolution. There's linux driver available for it. If it meets your need, you can use that sensor.
