CCS/AM5718: Mac OS support

Part Number: AM5718
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

According to the wiki and installer the current version of CCS doesn't support processors, such as the AM5718 or AM5728, on Mac OS. Is there an alternative that supports Mac OS?

  • Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, CCS for MacOS mostly supports MCU targets. There is no CCS version that supports Sitara on MacOS. Sorry

  • Does anyone know if there are any 3rd party solutions for Mac OS?

  • I will move this thread to the Sitara forum. The experts there can best suggest a solution for your needs on MacOS
  • Hi Mark
Can you elaborate further on how you plan to use AM571x ? Are you using Processor SDK? Will you be using Linux or planning to develop ARM/DSP using TI RTOS or bare metal.

As Ki-Soo mentioned for CCS having MaC OS support for Sitara family is currently not in the plans/roadmap.

I am not aware of any other IDE that would be at par with CCS for development with TI processors - so don't have a good recommendation for a 3P IDE.

The only recommendation we can make is to consider VM (e.g. Parallels) running Linux on the macOS – which will allow both CCS to run as well as work with TI Processor SDK for Linux etc.

    Hope this helps.

  • My plan is not to use an OS such as Linux as I think it would create too much overhead.

I’m planning to use it to send it’s memory contents (read only) to multiple devices (96 to 128 possibly), sort of similar to a multi-port memory controller/DMA/server for a proprietary product.

I want to evaluate it using either the EVM or Beagle Bone X15, whichever is more suitable.

Thanks for clarifying the use-case and preferences on OS etc. I think if you have to stay with MacOS, you may need to go the Parallel's route.
I think CCS is the best IDE for what you are trying to do - so I would not recommend exploring other IDEs etc.
