Error while make-ing dsplink - dsp/src

Hi Sayan --

You need to include <xdc/std.h> in your source file before any other BIOS .h files.  Can you check the .c file that has this error and see if it missing this?

Thanks for the reply. The error happens while compiling failure.c, and the first header included there is <xdc/std.h>. Can you suggest anything else?

Are you building this file for the host or for the DSP-side?

The following link might be helpful.  If you are building from command line or makefile (not using xdc build flow), you need to add a couple of -D options to the compile line.

Well there was no trouble in building gpp/src, it's only dsp/src that is giving me these errors. I would follow that link and inform the outcome.

Thanks Deepali, somebody did warn me that there were a lot of differences between Bios 5.x and 6.x. I guess getting back to 5.x will solve the problem.

DSPLink does not support true BIOS 6 features. It adds support for BIOS 6 using the BIOS 5 legacy layer. Can I understand what you are trying to achieve? Do you want to add support for BIOS 6 legacy layer for OMAP?

We do have legacy layer support for a few platforms like DM6446 etc in the code. You can look at that for reference.

Thank you for asking. My intention is to build c6runlib and the dependent components. For some reason, I thought that instead of doing "make get components", I would build the dependent components like dsplink, bios, xdctools, etc, and then point the path to some top level c6run makefile...Since I am absolutely a beginner, I spent quite some time in doing all that, and finally hit the wall on the error mentioned above.

Thanks for answering. I did exactly as you said, and was able to build c6run and the dependent components. I do have lot of warnings while building  the examples folder and I still have to run the executable on my beagleboard to check everything is working alright though.

Instead of creating a new thread , since i am working in the same direction, i am posting my problem here itself.  I got the following error message when i did "make dsp_libs" 

I would appreciate any help.

The pprof.h header file is one that comes with the C6000 code generation tools, in its include directory. What version of the code generation tools are you using? Can you double check to make sure that you pointed to the correct location for these tools with the setting of the CODEGEN_INSTALL_DIR variable in Rules.mak?

I would be interested to see what type of warnings you are getting when building the examples, as that does not sound typical.

Hi Daniel,

The version is C6000CGT6.0.27  I checked the location in Rules.mak , i set the right path. Yet it doesnt work. 

I have followed guidelines for a stand-alone setup , according to this link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_With_C6Run 

Do you have some other suggestions ?

I highly recommend you upgrade your codegen tools.  The C6Run project was only tested with 6.1.x and 7.0.x versions of the C6000 compiler.  It appears that the 6.0.x may be incompatible.

After having another look, I saw that the warnings are related to inline functions not supported by c89. So I guess if I replace the compiler flag in the examples folder makefiles to c99, the warnings should go away.

The next step would be to load the executables in the beagleboard and see whether everything is working accordingly...I would inform the outcome as I get my hands on it.
