Linux/TDA2PXEVM: how to run a gstreamer pipeline with vision sdk?

Part Number: TDA2PXEVM

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

Can you help demonstrate how to run a gstreamer pipeline with vision sdk? eg.  with capture/encode/decode/vpe/display components involved.

Is chains and links framework still a necessity for the running? Thanks!

Regards,

Simon

  • Hi Simon,
What is the vision-sdk version being used? If it is VISION_SDK v3.03 or lower version, gstreamer should work.
    Vision-SDK 3.04 doesn't have support for gstreamer .

    What is your exact usecase?

    Thanks
    Ram
  • Hi Ram,
Thanks for your reply. we have plan to support DVR functionality in our ADAS portfolio based on TDA2x. Where can I start the gstreamer pipeline for VISION_SDK v3.03 or lower version? Can you help indicate some documents ? And what's the justification for you to abandon the support in later versions?

    Regards,
    Simon
  • Hi Simon,
If you are using VisionSDK Linux, the filesystem will have gstreamer support. Are you using VIsionSDK RTOS or Linux ?
Gstreamer support in vision-sdk support will be available in VISION_SDK v3.05 which will happen in this month end. This support was broken in 3.04, due to a new feature vDRM.
  • Hi Ram,
I get it. We are using VISION_SDK Linux.  If possible I'd like to learn more about gstreamer plugins implementation based on Links and Chains framework, seems there are nothing about the topic in the VISION_SDK documents. Thanks!

    Simon

  • Hi Simon,
To run video playback gstreamer usecases, IPU2 needs to be loaded with IPUMM firmware. Refer UserGuide for more information on how to build vision-sdk firmwares for IPU2 with IPUMM as the firmware.
If you are expecting a gstreamer plugin for capture , v4l2src can not be used since VIP is controlled by vision-sdk and not available for Linux
