Booting from Serial Flash

If using the SPI to boot the DSP, does the boot device have to be an EEPROM or can it be a serial flash (such as SST25VF016B)?

Which particular device are you using?

In general I suspect your serial flash would work fine, from a read perspective the SPI EEPROM and flash should be the same (a quick glance at the timing diagram from SST25VF016B seems to confirm this), the differences may come in when you write a utility to burn/program the serial flash. I have booted DM365 using 24 bit SPI flash successfully in the past.

  • Sorry for not specifying device.  It is the DM6467T
