Today, Infinite Power Solutions (IPS) announced that it has teamed up with us at Texas Instruments (TI) to create the world’s first perpetually-powered digital signal processor (DSP) solution. TI’s ultra-low-power TMS320C5515 DSP combined with the ultra-efficient, high-peak current capacity and near loss-less energy storage of the IPS THINERGY® Micro-Energy Cell (MEC) makes this possible.
The award-winning THINERGY solid-state MEC101-7S is efficiently recharged by solar energy, resulting in a perpetually powered DSP-based application for decades of maintenance-free signal processing.
Applications for the C5515 ultra-low-power DSP powered by the IPS THINERGY MEC include remote audio, very-low-bit-rate video surveillance, seismic monitoring as well as remote vibration sensing of bridges, buildings and industrial machinery.
TI and IPS will collaborate to demonstrate the THINERGY MEC powering the C5515 ultra-low-power eZdsp USB stick development tool at hall A4, booth 420 at Electronic 2010, which is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair in Munich Germany on Nov. 9-12. We hope to see you there!
