I was wondering if anyone knows how to write to the NAND flash from Linux. I need to write a RFS to the nand flash. I can do it in u-boot, but the RFS has to be smaller than the available memory, since it's loaded completely into memory before writing.

I realized that it should be in the Linux forum right after posting. Unfortunately this forum doesn't allow editing or deleting a post once made.

I did find the answer to my question in the TMS320DM365 Software Developers Guide.

However it would be nice to be able to write a complete nand image after booting a board using TFTP and NFS. Anyone got any ideas?

Make sure you have mtd_utils available which will help you achieving your wonder.

Thanks SriHarsha,

I'm make sure I have those. I'm able to erase sections of flash in u-boot, then mount as a drive. But if the flash_erase and nandwrite can write the whole nand from linux then that's a big plus. I'm not so sure about the UBL and U-Boot because I believe they need to be written with a different ECC computation. Do you know if nandwrite can put the UBL and u-boot on the nand?
