CCS/DM505: CCS/DM505

Part Number: DM505

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I've spent hours searching the TI web site,  and have not found example software for the DM505 that will build in CCS under Windows.  The only examples I've found are built under Linux at the command line.  I have 2 questons:

1) Is Windows/CCS a viable development platform for the DM505?

2) If so,  are there any example projects for this development platform?

Thanks,

Bill

  • Hi Bill,

I see most of the SDK's here:
    www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware
have Windows installers, you may just need MinGW installed to build them (I am not familiar with those SDK's muyself).

Also please check the contacts posted in this message, they might provide better support:

  • Hi Yordan,

Thanks for the response.  I've been all over both of those pages before I resorted to posting here.  The installers do actually install something (actually a lot of things) under Windows but there is not a single project for the DM505 among all of it that can be opened and built in CCS.  In fact,  after installing several of those SKDs I tried searching the install directories to import a project but CCS did not find any valid projects to import.

As I stated earlier,  the only DM505 project that I have found is built on Linux from the command line.

As far as the partner company's support - they are not suooprting the TI chip.  They are supporting the products that they sell.  There is a huge difference,  I must buy one of their boards before they will be of any assistance.

Is TI no longer directly supporting it's processors?

btw - I am running CCS  Version: 8.1.0.00011 (8.2 failed to install) with the TI Arm compiler,  TI C6000 compiler, and EVE compiler.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  • Hello Bill,

Again, TI provides very limited DM505 support. So, as far as CCS support goes, building SDK, etc, DM50x is same as the more popular TDA3x/DRA78x chips. You can do a TDA3x project in windows with Vision SDK and CCS for example and pretend it's hooked to a TDA3x EVM instead of DM50x.

If you want to go that path, there are plenty of documentation in the Vision SDK package, here on the forum, and on ti.com to get you started.

    Hope it helps,
    thanks
