Booting up of TMS320DM642(Spectrum Digital) EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM642

Dear All,

I am a newbie to TMS320DM642. I got TMS320DM642 EVM (Spectrum Digital) from my company.

My problem is how I can communicate with the EVM as it was connected to my PCI slot. I am not using any JTAG emulators.

When I am trying with CC Studio, it is reporting that the EVM has not been powered up.

I installed the PCI drivers from Spectrum digital and the Switches (S1 and S2) are made in such a way that the board operates with HPI/PCI boot using default PCI registers.

Can I download my code to EVM using CCS through PCI? Or is there any other compiler which can build and download the code to EVM through PCI without using any JTAG?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Ramya

  • Hello,

CCS uses JTAG emulators to connect to the DSP - it does not allow for debugging through the PCI interface. If you want to boot the device via PCI you would need need to write up an algorithm to write to the chip's memory addresses through PCI the PCI bus.

Did you install the Valley Tech drivers on the Spectrum site? These are used for some simple PCI-based tests and are not CCS drivers.
