Linux/TDA2PXEVM: How to make a link from IPU to linux at linux platform

Hi,

I'd like to make a control link from IPU FW to CA15 Linux.
I couldn't find it in documents and E2E threads.
How to make it at IPU and where is the handler at Linux?

Hi Kim,

I did not get the question. Do you want to send some control commands from IPU to Linux? That can be done from one link on IPU to another link on A15.

Or do you want some control link on Linux?

Hi Brijesh,

I'd like to just add a new command from IPU to Linux at current command link, as 'System_linkControl(SYSTEM_LINK_ID_APP_CTRL, new_command_ID, ..)' in linux.
What kind of link can I use?

Hi Kim,

I think there is a generic link, which can be used for this purpose. You could process this command in system link running on Linux. On IPU, You need to make sure that you send command to system link running on A15.

Hi Kim,

Unfortunately, generic system link is not available on Linux.
Could you please help me understand what kind of data you want to send from IPU to A15?

Hi Brijesh,

One of image sensors uses i2c port of CA15. So IPU can not access it directly.
I'd like to send i2c data of IPU to CA15.

Is it just one time configuration? if it is, why don't you add in the A15 binary itself?

Hi Brijesh,

One time configuration of init. of image sensor was done at kernel side.
But frequent i2c access is required for sensor AE control.

By the way, how long is the latency of control link if irq is not disabled? some us or timer tick resolution?

Hi Kim,

Control command is typically not recommended as it is blocking call and during this time, it does not allow any other control command.
so if you don't have any other control commands from IPU to Linux, then it should be fine. Otherwise, i would not recommend using control command interface.
I think you could process this command in one of the existing link running on Linux and part of your usecase. If it is not, you will have to create a dummy link to process this command.
